“Stand Strong for the Carolinas” Relief Fund Continues to Accept Donations

BALTIMORE, Sept. 26, 2018 — Sinclair Broadcast Group, Inc. (NASDAQ: SBGI) today announced that it has raised over $230,000 in partnership with the Salvation Army to aid disaster relief efforts for the victims of Hurricane Florence located in North and South Carolina. On September 20th, Sinclair held a national Day of Giving to promote its donation website, http://sinclaircares.helpsalvationarmy.org, encouraging viewers to get involved in helping their neighbors affected by the storm. As part of the relief effort, Sinclair matched the first $100,000 of the funds raised.

“We are deeply grateful to all who have donated to the ‘Stand Strong for the Carolinas’ relief fund so far and we continue to encourage Sinclair viewers to join us in our efforts to support the victims of this devastating hurricane,” said Scott Livingston, Sinclair’s Senior Vice President for News. “For many, the rebuilding effort is only just beginning and we hope that these additional funds will bring aid to those who have been displaced or affected by the storm in starting to rebuild their lives.”

As Hurricane Florence battered the Atlantic coast, WCTI-TV in New Bern, N.C. was forced to evacuate. Sinclair and its affiliate stations were determined to provide continuous coverage to their viewers – leveraging the reach of Sinclair’s network to ensure that critical information was delivered virtually uninterrupted to keep area residents informed.

Still reeling from extensive damage to the station, the WCTI crew is currently working and producing newscasts from two trailers and a tent located in the station’s parking lot. One of the trailers is serving as the newsroom and the other as the control room.

“The dedicated and resilient WCTI crew continues to do phenomenal work as the restoration period in the Carolinas begins. We want to thank the Sinclair Broadcast family, as it was truly a collaborative effort to get the New Bern station up-and-running again,” said WCTI’s General Manager, Matt Bowman. “Additionally, we would like to thank everyone who has donated to the relief efforts and shown support for those impacted.”

Sinclair’s widespread relief efforts continue as the rebuilding process begins throughout the Southeast. Donations are being accepted at http://sinclaircares.helpsalvationarmy.org.
