SBG Names JC Lowe GM in Pensacola; Names Mike Murphy GM in Birmingham

SINCLAIR ANNOUNCES J.C. LOWE TO BE GENERAL MANAGER IN PENSACOLA, FL; MIKE MURPHY TO BE GENERAL MANAGER IN BIRMINGHAM, AL

Baltimore, MD (August 21, 2014) – Sinclair Broadcast Group, Inc. (Nasdaq: SBGI) announced that J.C. Lowe, who was Sinclair’s General Manager in Birmingham, will become the General Manager of WEAR (ABC) and WFGX (MyNet) in Pensacola, FL. Mike Murphy will be the General Manager of WBMA (ABC), WABM (MyNet) and WTTO (CW) in the Birmingham, AL market. Mr. Murphy will also be responsible for the oversight of WDBB (CW), which is a simulcast operated by Sinclair under a local marketing agreement. The announcement was made by Steve Marks, Co-Chief Operating Officer of Sinclair’s television group.

In making the announcement, Mr. Marks said, “I look forward to J.C. overseeing our stations in Pensacola. He has done a terrific job in Birmingham, and we are confident that he can continue our leadership position in Pensacola. Mike is a natural choice to assume oversight of the stations J.C. managed and to broaden his responsibilities in Birmingham. Mike has been an active member of the Central Alabama community and has great familiarity with the market’s businesses and viewers.”

Mr. Lowe has been with Sinclair since 2007, serving as General Manager in Birmingham, AL. Prior to that and from 2003, he was General Salas Manager of KAUT in Oklahoma City, OK. From 2001 to 2002, he was General Manager and General Sales Manager of KEYE in Austin, TX, a station now owned by Sinclair. Prior to that and from 1998, he was the Local Sales Manager at WHBQ in Memphis, TN. Mr. Lowe was an Account Executive at various other stations since 1191. Mr. Lowe attended Central State University in Edmond, OK and is a graduate of the American Broadcasting School in Oklahoma City.

Mr. Murphy has served as General Manager of WBMA in Birmingham, AL, recently acquired by Sinclair, since 2004. From 2002 to 2004, he was General Sales Manager for the station. Prior to that, he served 11 years at WSMV (NBC) in Nashville, first as an Account Executive, then as Local Sales Manager and then as General Sales Manager. Mr. Murphy holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing from Belmont University in Nashville. He is a past Board Member of Easter Seals in Central Alabama, the Junior League of Central Alabama, and the Alabama Broadcasters Association.
