08.11.2026

PITTSBURGH, Pa. — August 11, 2026 — Sinclair today announced the launch of Pittsburgh Sports Tonight, a new live, locally produced sports program premiering Monday, August 31. Airing weeknights from 7:00–7:30 p.m. ET, the 30-minute program will deliver comprehensive regional sports coverage across Sinclair's three-station television network serving Western Pennsylvania, Eastern Ohio, and Northern West Virginia. Pittsburgh Sports Tonight will air live on:

  • WPGH FOX 53 – Pittsburgh
  • WJAC NBC – Johnstown/Altoona/State College
  • WTOV FOX 9 – Wheeling/Steubenville

Together, the stations reach more than 3.5 million viewers, creating one of the nation's largest regional television audiences dedicated to local sports.

Pittsburgh Sports Tonight will provide nightly coverage of the teams and stories that matter most throughout the region, including the Pittsburgh Steelers, Pittsburgh Pirates, Pittsburgh Penguins, Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC, Pitt Panthers, Penn State, West Virginia University, Robert Morris University, Duquesne University, as well as local colleges and standout high school athletics.

“Sports are woven into the fabric of our communities,” said Tim McCoy, Vice President and General Manager of WPGH FOX 53 Pittsburgh and WTOV FOX 9 Wheeling-Steubenville. “From Friday Night Rivals to championship moments at the professional level, the passion for sports throughout our region is second to none. Pittsburgh Sports Tonight will celebrate those stories every night while providing viewers with comprehensive regional sports coverage. We are excited to bring together an outstanding team of journalists dedicated to serving sports fans across the region.”

Pittsburgh Sports Tonight will feature breaking sports news, live reports, exclusive interviews, in-depth analysis, feature stories, and fan engagement from host Jack Hillgrove and co-host Destiny Sanchez. Ashley Wenskoski rounds out the anchor desk as sports anchor and reporter, while Darren Zaslau serves as executive producer, sports analyst and reporter.

“As a native Pittsburgher and former Pittsburgh Panther Football Player who now has the privilege of serving the Johnstown, Altoona and State College region, I understand how deeply connected our communities are to the city of Pittsburgh and its sports traditions,” said Jason Chavis, Vice President and General Manager of WJAC-TV. “There is a genuine sense of pride and nostalgia in that relationship. When people from our market travel and are asked where they are from, many will instinctively say they live about an hour outside of Pittsburgh. That response speaks to more than geography—it reflects a shared identity, a common sports culture and a lifelong connection to the teams and stories that bring this entire region together. Pittsburgh Sports Tonight will honor that connection while also giving the athletes, schools and communities within our own market the regional platform and recognition they deserve.”
