SINCLAIR MOURNS THE PASSING OF DOUG GEALY
Baltimore, MD (December 1, 2014) – With great sadness, Sinclair Broadcast Group, Inc. (Nasdaq: SBGI) announces the passing of Doug Gealy, Group Manager for multiple markets.
“We are grieved and shocked at the sudden loss of one of our own,” commented David Amy, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Sinclair. “Doug brought over 30 years of broadcast television experience to our Company and we will miss his talent and leadership. He was a very dedicated husband and family man and deeply valued the friendships he had in our business and many will miss him greatly. We wish to express our condolences to his family in this time of sorrow.”
Mr. Gealy has served as Group Manager since November 2013. Prior to that, he served as President, Chief Executive Officer and Chief Operating Officer and was a founder of ACME Communications, Inc. from January 1997 to April 2013. From 1996, he was Executive Vice President of Benedek Broadcasting. From 1991 to 1996, he served as President and General Manager of WCMH (NBC) and WWHO (CW) in Columbus, Ohio. From 1989 to 1991, Mr. Gealy was Vice President and General manager of WHOI (ABC) in Peoria, Illinois. Prior to that, he held various other positions including General Sales Manager, Local Sales Manager, National Sales Manager and Account Executive for various stations in Ohio. Mr. Gealy received his Bachelor of Science degree in Mass Communications from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio.
