WTTO Rebrands as The 205, Reinforcing Commitment to Birmingham Community

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – September 3, 2026 – Sinclair today announced that WTTO, its Birmingham station has rebranded as The 205.
The new name is inspired by Birmingham’s 205 area code and reflects WTTO’s continued commitment to serving the Birmingham community with programming that is relevant, local and connected to the market. Formerly affiliated with The CW, WTTO is now operating as an independent station.
As The 205, the station will place an expanded focus on local news, local sports and programming designed to serve and engage viewers across Birmingham and the surrounding region. In the coming months, The 205 will add additional news content as well as local sports programming. Sinclair is proud to help expand access to the Ingles SoCon Football Game of the Week on WTTO The 205. Bringing SoCon games to local broadcast television reflects Sinclair’s continued commitment to delivering live relevant sports programming that matters to viewers.
